Tahoe for the Weekend

Nik taking a swim
Since Nik is in Sacramento for work right now and I am still in Portland. We are making an effort to see each other every weekend. This weekend I flew down to meet him and we spent the days with family and each other. Our weekend entailed going to a Reno Aces baseball game with Keri and Sam, kayaking on Lake Tahoe and having dinners with each of our families. It was so much fun to be in the sun, enjoying what it felt like to have a summer. Nik and I hadn't seen each other for about 12 days so we took most of the weekend spending quality time with just the two of us.

Mom and Ben were kind enough to host the kayaking

Sunny 4th of July

With our very very long springs in Portland it was about time we saw the sun. Around here everyone jokes that summer doesn't start until July 4th. I have been here 3 summers now and the jokes are true, summer has not started until July. This year, Nik and I headed up North to visit Danny and Sara at Danny's family cabin on the Puget Sound. The weather was beautiful! The dogs swam and ran their little hearts out. Nik and the boys played tennis, home run derby, frisbee, football and whatever else they could come up with. I relaxed and enjoyed every last bit I could of the beautiful views and the fantastic weather.

All though the fireworks were scarring Wanda have to death, we still had a great time. It is beautiful up there and we always love spending time with Danny and Sara. Happy Independence Day!!

Keri's Surprise birthday present to Portland

Sam surprised Keri for her birthday with tickets to come visit us for the weekend. Nik and I love visitors and we were so happy to have them come up for a couple days. Although the weather was kind of crummy we made sure to have a good time eating and drinking through the city.

On their last day we decided to wait in line at the famous Voodoo Donuts. It was about a 45 minute wait to get to the front of the line. Once we had a couple donuts and drank some milk, we all thought our wonderful idea of getting donuts was not such a great idea. The donuts sat in our stomachs all day and I think we each regretted our decision. Oh well, if you live in Portland just once you have stand in the grueling line for the famous bacon maple donut. The donuts were good, but not the best I ever had.

Thanks Keri and Sam for coming. We had a great time with you guys.
