4 Months Old

Today, I am 4 months old. I weigh 14.2 lbs and I am just over 2 feet tall (25 inches). This past month has been a big month for me. I can now roll over from front to back and back to front. I am actually loving tummy time now, because I can do those things they call baby pushups (holding myself up in cobra position). I have belly laughed a few times, but only do those on special occasion. I think Mommy and Daddy like those the best, so I use my belly laugh sparingly (I don't want anyone getting sick of my cute laugh). I am able to reach for my toys to play with them and I have now discovered the other creatures that live with us. They are furry and funny looking, but I like them a lot. They make me smile and I reach out to them now as well. I have found my feet and I try to put them in my mouth, especially when Mommy is changing my diaper. I still wake up once a night (sometimes more), because I need to make sure Mommy and Daddy haven't forgotten about me. I have been to a total of 5 states and I have traveled by plane over the Pacific Ocean. I am one lucky baby and I am loving this life.

She Rolls and Swims

Hawaii definitely agreed with McKinley. She flourished in the great weather and sunshine. First off... she is now rolling. She started with a front to back roll, then the next day she did a back to front roll. She pulls those little legs up to her chest and rolls to the side, it is too cute. The video wouldn't upload so I added some other great photos instead.

The flower clips Baba gave Kins are super cute!
We tried the ocean one more time. She still didn't like it. Although she loves the sound, it puts her right to sleep.
We also attempted again to bring her in the pool. This time was a success. She didn't cry and loved being pulled around the pool.

Yay!! I did it!!
What you lookin' at? This is my beach...

Sunset Cruise

It was so nice of Baba and Djedo to take care of McKinley for an evening, so Nik and I could take a Sunset Cruise. We had a blast and saw tons of humpback whales. They were breaching, jumping and showing their tales off. The closest one we saw was about 20 yards from the boat. Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough with the camera to get any good shots so I guess this is only a whale of a tale. Haha...

Poipu Beach

Walking, running, lying on the beach, snorkeling, swimming, sunsets, BBQs, whale watching, roosters, golfing and relaxing were all things we did during the week. I'll let some of the pictures tell the story.

Kins first time with her feet in the sand and first time touching the ocean. She didn't like it.
Playing in the grass during the sunset
She says it all here
Roosters are all over the island. You get used to their calls... Cock-a-doodle-do
Playing was the name of the game
We enjoyed many great walks during the week

First attempt at swimming. She didn't like it. Stay tuned because we keep trying.

A Winter Break to Kauai

We really are a fortunate family. Nik's parents invited our family out for a week in beautiful Poipu, Kauai. How could we pass it up? They have a timeshare there, so all we had to do was provide the plane tickets and we were on our way. Nik and I planned this trip before McKinley was born so when the time came for us all to go, I have to say I was very nervous to put McKinley on a plane that long. Our departure flight was at 6am and we were supposed to stop in San Jose, CA to change planes then head over the Pacific. Well... that was the plan, but the weather didn't permit. We were not able to land in San Jose because of fog, so the plane circled the area for about an hour. Then the captain told us we had to head to LA to land. Yikes, I was ready to turn around and go home. If this was how the trip was going to go, I was not in for it. As soon as we landed in LA Nik took charge. He put McKinley and I in the Alaska Air Boardroom for some peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle of LAX and he set off to figure out our flight plan for the day. We ended up spending about 7 hours there, but we were able to get a flight that day to Kauai. On the flight we were able to get our own row with McKinley, so in the end it ended up working out great. Once, we finally arrived I was glad we were there. Who wouldn't be?

A random dog got free on the runway. This was our entertainment for the day.

Thanks Nik for your patience and ability to work through a difficult situation. I am so glad we didn't turn around.
